SCO sued IBM?!

Well, I actually have a lot of stuff to talk about – but I don’t have the time. I’m so freaking tired. Well – first things first… Guess what the SCO Group did today. They sued IBM. For a billion dollars. Did I mention that they sued … IBM? Let me say that again – IBM. What the _hell_ are they thinking? Looking that the comments by one of their corporate drones, they state that IBM used IP generated in Project Monterey for AIX and dumped it into the Open Source community. Uh huh. This coming from a company thats managed (against all odds) to alienate almost everyone in the Linux community and destroy any hope of profitability. Methinks its a desperate measure. Don’t you? Well – why did I keep repeating IBM? Ahh…well you see, generally if you want to uh … intimidate people, you don’t pick the biggest gorilla on the block and poke his eyes. Which is effectively what SCO is doing. I mean IBM’s been running since the 50’s and they’ve probably got more patents than just about any other US company. They probably have more lawayers than SCO has employees! I mean, whoa – if you’re going to pick on someone, don’t pick the one guy who could probably sue you out of existence. At any rate, since I feel SCO would go after pure play Linux companies next all I have to say is that I hope they fade out of existence. Quickly. Ah…I’ve been noticing interesting variances in my musical taste. For the past few months I’ve been listening to a lot of 102.1 “The Edge”, Rammstein, Rage Against the Machine, Ministry and much in the same vein. I used to listen to Z 103.5 a lot, because they were the only station that played dance/euro. That fell out of favor. For a number of reasons… Incidentally, given that you listen to mainstream music long enough, you start to notice how similar everything is. It starts to sound like background noise – everything indistinguishable. Well, to continue, the problem is that a lot of dance centers around love. Some guy loves a girl, wants to be with here. Yada, yada, yada. Some girl wants to be with a guy. Yada, Yada, Yada. Everything’s syrupy sweet, heavily synthed rave style music. But the truth is – I _can’t_ identify with this. As a result it annoys me. A lot. I mean, why the hell do I want to hear a bunch of people _whom I don’t know_ profess love for each other?? I don’t. I want to hear songs about pain, confusion, anger and hopelessness. I want to hear songs about people angry that they can’t change things. Whatever. Incidentally, as I was elsewhere I heard Dido, and I instantly wanted to listen to the songs I have by her. Nice voice. Ironic though, after my diatribe against dance music I want to listen to a lady who … sings about the same things I don’t like in dance. I am messed up. Haha…slashdot is trying out its new “only subsribers can post first” policy. I wondered why the SCO story was showing zero comments. I had kinda expected people to be jumping all over that one… Incidentally, I also found out that I don’t have to write a work term report this term. Woo Hoo!
