Can you imagine my reaction on seeing these figurines?
No guesses required.
I was surprised – no, shocked – at first glance.
The placement or something more intangible about the figurines themselves didn’t connote wholesomeness. It feels as if they’re poking fun – and in an unkind way.
Sometimes I don’t understand the motivations (I suppose that is the best word) of Japanese consumers. Not only are these figurines for sale, but they’re being hawked at the outrageous price of $150 CDN! Who would buy these? Why? What purpose would they serve and what does this say about them?
I wouldn’t pay a dime for these things.
