Grey Suede

You stand
in grey suede heels
Calves tightened taut; one foot
calm asunder
I admire
your sculptured form, fine fashioned fettle
whole body stayed
in
surprise
contrast
to your battle face

A light

Her veins course formaldehyde, green against paper skin. I flick my lighter; try blind the apparition. Blind – before it skitters across my mind, leaving me gasping, choking, sicking, scrabbling frantic to flush its insect leavings from my memory. She unfurls her legs – crosses one over another, another again and leans in. Burnt. Burnt burning bitter breath.

Eating

The children opposite me are eating cars, bikes and people. Whole buildings and parks – there’s no escape.
