There’s a reason I like psychology so much. Like most people it comes down to personal relevance and applicability. Reading through the social psychology & personality modules I’m able to quickly focus on ideas and connect them to manifestations in my life. Often I’ll come across a point and say “Well, now I understand XYZ’s actions” or “Now I can better predict how this will end”.
No matter what I end up with in this class, I’ll walk out with one positive result – a better understanding of myself and others. If I can catch myself in the midst of an action, realize my motivations and modify myself accordingly – then this class was worth it. If I can look at a situation that’s unfolding in my life, understand its causes, probable result and tune my actions appropriately – then this class was worth it.
So now, back to reading.
Besides, if I want fun – I can always read news stories like this one.
